Old Water Well
Why locals love it
Courtyard behind the entrance to Demetrova Street No 11 hides the only remaining water well of the upper town. In the past, there used to be at least one water well for 20 houses. This one is the only one preserved, renewed and it looks magnificent. But it's hidden behind a closed gateway, so entering its quiet courtyard is always revealing.

Why you should visit it
How is it possible that such a lovely sight gets completely omitted from tourist maps? You'll most probably find yourself standing above this amazing 30 m deep well completely alone and undisturbed. That's a great feeling considering you're in a "touristy" part of an European capital.
Special tip
When you walk around Zagreb, especially the upper town area, try to enter the courtyards. They hide so many beautiful sights.
