Tour by Erich

Normal guy trying to enjoy life. I was living with a younger boyfriend/partner with whom I was happy and our family supported us, until in December 2016 he passed away of lymphoma. I am running my own eshop with flower bulbs, ornamental and fruit shrubs and trees, perenials, grasses as well as an unusual hostel in our greenhouse. In my free time I am working as a tourist guide presenting several tours. My other leisure activities are hiking, riding a bicycle, swimming, walking with dog or meeting and talking to foreign people. In 2013, I started an association called "Vypestuj Dobro" (= Grow Good), which tries to encourage people to share their surplus of garden produce with the families with children in need. I really enjoy working on it.

Instead of sticking to conventional tourist routes, I prefer to blend in with Bratislava’s back alleys and uncover their hidden gems. If you also enjoy this way of exploring, I’ll be more than happy to show you around my hometown!

We’ll walk around the former headquarters of the Slovak Communist Party, get to know how a holy image over the main entrance of the school from 1901 survived the socialist era, pass a church without a tower, and visit the calmest place in Bratislava. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a glass of Budvar 10° beneath the chestnut trees in the city's oldest beer garden.

We'll then pass wooden Nazi-built houses on our way to the Slavín WWII memorial, where we’ll admire the beautiful view. There will be enough time to take photos.

From Slavín, we’ll walk downhill to the formerly popular meeting point in front of the Presidential Palace, where we’ll finish our tour.

Small group sizes (max. 12 participants) mean that you’ll have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn about local life.

Great way to see and learn about Bratislava
Erich was a great guide, and the "off the beaten path" tour delivers. He provides details and personal stories which help an outsider grasp some of the intersection of history, politics, religious life, and relationship among Slovakia and neighboring countries. On this tour, we saw details that are not mentioned in my guide books and offers granular detail which helped us get a lived-in sense of how a local experiences this city. Thanks Erich!
I Very Good and Intresting Tour
We booked the tour trying to find out more than just the tourist information about the city. We really were getting a feel for the city we were staying in.
The tour was around 2 hours and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
I would recommend the Off The Beaten Track tour to anyone who wants to know a bit more about local life.
Lovely guide and informative, interesting tour!
Erich was friendly and informative, sharing stories of the local area and his experiences growing up in Socialist Bratislava. We had great fun exploring areas that you wouldn’t find on normal tourist routes and seeing the contrasting sides to the city.

Great Time!
The Happy Dog Forrest Walk is not something other countries offer (from what I could find) and it is quite rewarding too! You help the locals and have a great wat time learning about the country.we had a great time and this is definitely something I will do with other friends and family when I go back to Bratislava!
So neat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dog hike. It’s great when you are traveling, missing your dog, and wanting to give back to a shelter.
The dogs were excited to be out in the woods and were fun to be with.
Erich was great. He was flexible to work with our schedule and delightful to be with.
I highly recommend this activity if you are a dog lover.
Awesome experience
