Our trip to Brussels was a last minute decision, and we were literally booking lodgings and checking out events on our way there. The idea of making our own chocolates sounded like a cute thing to do, and we ended up having a REALLY good time. The product that you produce and get to bring home is excellent quality, and it's a really neat experience to be part of a group, all creating something that you've never done before! We had a great luck getting to spend the afternoon with Titch.

Description

DUE TO CORONA RESTRICTIONS WE ONLY ORGANIZE PRIVATE WORKSHOPS AT THE MOMENT. The fee is 45eur per person, min 2 participants.

During this 2.5-hour workshop you’ll learn how to temper chocolate and, from it, craft 2 types of Belgian chocolates:

Pralines: The most famous Belgian chocolate, consisting of a delicate chocolate shell with a creamy filing. You’ll learn how to make both the shell and the filling from scratch!

Mendiants: Chocolate discs studded with dried fruits. Crispy and delicious!

You’ll make at least 30 chocolates, which you can either eat on the spot or take home to family and friends.

With our easy technique and chocolate theory, you’ll be able to make your own chocolates once you return home!

Please note that we currently only offer dark chocolate workshops.

Suitable for vegetarians. Vegan workshops are available upon request.

All workshops are in English.

Important: All participants must be at least 12 years old. We don't allow spectators as it creates an awkward vibe among participants, nor kids as this workshop is long and technical. For families, we recommend you check out our Waffle making workshop that is suitable for younger children: https://www.likealocalguide.com/brussels/tours/brussels-waffle-workshop

Had a great time!
Was running a few minutes late and couldn't find them in the crowds but they were kind enough to wait. She was really knowledgeable and patient about chocolate making. And also gave us tips about where to go in Brussels.
Terrific host ...
Session met expectations. Our host was very accommodating and very helpful.

This was defiantly a highlight of our short time in Brussel.

Recommend for anyone looking for a fun couple of hours ...
excellent experience
Even though I and my wife were in a fairly large group, the chocolatier(esse) was handling it perfectly so that we all could follow the procedure well and at an appropriate speed. The results were brilliant. Having said that, I would have liked to learn how to make truffles too, but that would be a longer workshop, I guess.
Enjoyable Workshop!
We had a really great time making chocolate pralines and our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable. We learned how to make mendiants and hot chocolate as well and it was a fun morning. She also told us other tips to travel and eat around Brussels. Highly recommended for a fun family activity.

Best waffle making class ever!
The instructor was great! She had great energy, very knowledgeable and made it enjoyable for all of us. Some of us had problem with our batter so she was able to fix it so that the waffle still came out crispy. The short walk of waffle street on the way to the workshop was good. We’re now able to identify the two different kinds of waffles!
Great Experience
This was so fun! We got lots of info about the differences in the two types of Belgian waffles, as well as tidbits about other types. Short tour (which was great because it was freezing cold) but long enough to give us great info and ideas for places to try more... not that we needed it because we were allowed to make as many waffles as we wanted and took them with us to eat for days. There were nearly a dozen different toppings to try, which were just as fun as the waffles themselves.
It was a great exprience, thanks for everything...
