Description

Did you know that in Budapest’s ruin pubs you can…

…travel back in time with beer and wine?
…buy artwork and home-grown vegetables?
…understand the Hungarian soul?

Ruin pubs are the pulsating heart of Budapest, the gardens of creativity, the cultural hubs, the hidden hangouts of artists. They’re a combination of everything we love about our city, which you’ll surely love too!

Our tour is not to be confused with Budapest’s evening pub crawls. They’re nice and part of the bigger picture, but ruin pubs and gardens are much more than simply places to get fuzzy in the head and enjoy the city’s nightlife.

During the tour you’ll visit Budapest’s best ruin pubs, see local street art and murals, and visit several design shops and galleries.

Ruin Pub walk was great with Atilla
My husband and I really enjoyed the informative Ruin Pub walk with Atilla. He was a knowledgeable guide about Budapest, Ruin pubs, and mural art. He is passionate about Budapest and his presentation exudes it. He is also amusing. We would highly recommend the tour. Loved that the walk was a small group. Thank you Atilla
Fantastic
What a great tour, great guide.
I can not fault the tour at all.
We went on the afternoon of 1st arriving and there was only 3 of us.
Antilla was so knowledgeable and took us see things we would have just walked past and not given a second look at.
He recommended some great places to eat and coffee houses.
It’s is a must and it’s not a pub tour.
A tour of the real Budapest
Our guide Atilla was really friendly and well informed about his home city, and made our trip to Budapest all the better. We spent about three hours together and walked the historic Jewish quarter of the city and discussed the history of the this area of the city and looked at some of the street art murals which are dotted around the area. We even had time to stop and have a beer inside one of the ruin bars in the area (much needed as it was freezing outside!).
Atilla also gave us some really good recommendations on where to find the best food in the neighbourhood in order to avoid the tourist trap restaurants.
Could not recommend this tour enough.
Wish I had done this tour sooner!
This was such a great introductory tour! Attila knows so much about Budapest's amazing culture, history and local hot spots. I took this tour half way through my 5 day trip and I really wish I had taken it on my first day. I spent the rest of my time revisiting all the places he took me to. He gives you great local recommendations for food, shopping and drinking. Basically all the information you need to really experience Budapest. I had a fantastic time and was so impressed by everything I learned in 3 hours. Highly, highly recommend this tour!
Very informative, checking out some cool spots
Different side of Budapest
Atilla was a great host showing us a different side of Budapest than the normal tourist sites. Visited the ruin pubs, bookshops, art stores and community gardens that are not in your average tour. Very interesting to see how Budapest is growing.
I Loved this tour! It was a great way to experience the ruin pub scene in a social way, without having to deal with the rowdiness of a pub crawl. For a solo traveler like myself, this was just what I was looking for! Atilla is a great host - very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this area and the culture and history behind it. Thanks to him I got to see lots of local hidden gems I never would have found on my own (like the cultural center in a former shopping center!) Definitely one of the highlights of my Budapest visit!
We had been in Budapest for nearly a week and did the tour on our second to last day. We were amazed at the sights we had missed! The ruin bars, galleries and quirky shops are a must! Tour guide is very friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel very comfortable. He has shown us a secret world we had not stumbled upon all week. This tour is an absolute must x
We could not have been happier with Attila and this tour. For some reason we went into it thinking it was going to be a pub crawl of sorts (which none of us were up for since we'd spent plenty of time at the ruin pubs the evening before!). We were so happily surprised when it turned out to be a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter, learning about the history of the area and the ruin pubs, as well as getting to see all kinds of other local art, shops, restaurants, bakeries and hangouts. Attila was great to talk to, sharing about things non-related to the tour like the political atmosphere in Hungary, and taking us to a few unplanned stops when he got to know us a bit better. We revisited at least 5 of the places he took us afterwards, and were definitely places we never would've discovered on our own. Thank you Attila! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
My husband and i visiting from the US decided to do the tour with Attila called "Hangover tour" . The tour was nice and Attila was very knowledgable about the city.
We visited some ruin pubs which i was very much looking forward to see. He explained their history very well. We also saw some spots as the locals do like bookstores, hang outs and have some yummy Hungarian dishes for lunch.

Even though it was very cold, it was worth it to walk around the area, the Jewish quarter, the ruin pubs with a few stops to talk about interesting facts, city life, interesting information and see Budapest as the locals do.
Thank you, Budapestflow, for the wonderful guided tour last week! I dropped by to Budapest for just 36 hours so we had a little mix of the Ruinpubs Tour and the Sunday Hang Over. After so many years of passing through the city I thought Budapest won't surprise me anymore, but - yes, indeed - for once I skipped all the boring must-sees and got a bitter-sweet taste of the best arty pubs, squat-ish bars, off-track markets, street art walls and design cafes. The guide, Atilla, is a great and funny storyteller who won't force me to speed up with taking pictures (even though I took way too many, but, hey, the old photo files from past Budapest tours are all loaded with the green bridge and the boring Parliament takes, so now I really couldn't stop picturing the colourful wall paintings and witty stickers and rainbow flags and funny steampunkish tinkered fantastic objects stacked in the lively Sunday market). These were the places I would generally hang out around if I lived in Budapest. And now I feel like I'll be coming back with my own arty stickers to put around. All best from Poland, you guys!
