Colorado's pioneers and homesteaders no doubt drank plenty of whiskey, but certainly none this good. Stranahan's mission is to produce the smoothest, most distinctly-flavored stuff on the market, and some would say they achieve that goal. Plus, it's an independent family-owned operation, which is respectably in line with many Coloradan's ethics.
The lounge is atmospherically decorated with real barrels, all the cocktails on the menu are delicious and well-priced at $8 a piece, and if you really want a whiskey-soaked education you can spring for the $22 flight of different infused varieties. Better yet, get behind the scenes with a distillery tour.
Tours are limited to 30 persons, so book ahead online. I can't make any promises, but experience leads me to believe samples may well be included.
