Cais do Ginjal

Why locals love it

Nowadays you can only find buildings in ruins, but back in time, this was a place full of life with factories and warehouses of canned fish, wine, olive oil and vinegars. The pier was full with canoes, frigates, “varinos and faluas”, as well as with other vessels used to transport people or goods.

Why you should visit it

Grab some food, drinks and a picnic blanket and head to Cais do Ginjal to enjoy the sunset. You will find a little garden close to the river, just after “Boca do Vento” lift, set the table and appreciate the sun coming down. After, go up the lift and take a walk at Almada old town before heading to the boat.

Special tip

Catch the boat at Cais do Sodré heading to Cacilhas, when leaving the boat, turn right and head straight to the 25th April Bridge.
