Why locals love it
There is a statue honoring Doctor Sousa Martins. A Doctor that worked intensely and in most cases, free of charge, mainly fighting against tuberculosis. Having such a tireless work with charity, trying to help the most disadvantaged; his figure assumed contours of a saint, which can be visible in the ex-votos placed around his statue.
