This private walking tour is designed to introduce you to the unknown stories of Mouraria – the birthplace of Fado, and Lisbon's gastronomy. We’ll visit some old taverns where Fado is still sung by the neighbours and enjoy an informal gathering over a glass of wine and a snack. During our stroll we’ll also discuss the historical background of this very multicultural neighbourhood and the important influence it has on modern Lisbon.
The next destination will be the grand Old Town, which is lined with old grocery stores and pastry shops full of mouth-watering desserts, to sample some authentic local snacks and taste ginginha – a unique sour cherry liqueur.
Food tastings include:
- Traditional pastry + coffee
- Platter of cheeses and cured meats + glass of wine
- Pork sandwich + glass of draft beer or refreshing, slightly fizzy white wine
- Gourmet canned fish (three types of fish) + glass of sparkling wine
- Glass of ginginha (sour cherry liqueur)
- Dehydrated fruits (you’ll never want to eat candied fruit again!)
