Just 75 years ago, in the spring and summer of 1945, as Allied armies advanced through Nazi-occupied Europe to bring the reign of terror of the Third Reich to an end, the world learned of the liberation of dozens of concentration camps.

Duration: 5 hours

The tour was seamless from start to finish, our Tour Guide Nicola was very well informed on the history and spoke clearly in English.

I would recommend this tour for English tourists in Munich and ask for Nicola. She also gave some great restaurant recommendations!

All over an exhausted Europe, victorious Allied soldiers set free the desperate survivors of camp after camp. The diseased, the starving and the barely alive emerged to tell a shocked and disbelieving world of the full horror of a network of systematised murder, torture, degradation and exploitation that had first been conceived and set in motion 12 years earlier in 1933 in Dachau. This was the “parent” KZ (Konzentrationslager).

KZ Dachau was the “Academy of Terror”, the originator, role model and training ground for the vast order of brutality that spread over half of Europe in the wake of the armies of the Third Reich, which ultimately culminated in one of history’s greatest crimes: the Final Solution.

While each camp was responsible for its own particular form of barbarism, what set Dachau apart is that almost everything that happened in the system as a whole happened at some level there. There, human medical experiments were conducted. To there, Soviet prisoners were sent to be mown down in mass executions. From there, Jewish prisoners were transported to the gas chambers of Auschwitz.

Great place, guide seemed disinterested
I was really excited to go to Dachau concentration camp. Our guide Achim seemed like he didnt want to be there. He was quite negative and monotonous. It couldve been presented better. I like radius tours but Achim wasnt great.

Great day trip
Iain was a great tour guide and extremely knowledgeable.
A great tour
Our guide India was super friendly, knowledgeable, and down to earth. The train ride down was beautiful, the castle was exquisite, and the heavy metal sausage shop in Hohenschwangau is an oddly wonderful place for lunch. I highly recommend this tour.
Brilliant and fun tour
Me and my partner went on this tour and had a wonderful time. The guild was very informative and fun to talk to and the beers and food we tried were incredibly. Definitely a must do for beer lovers and anyone who wants to see the fun side of Bavarian culture.
Awesome Day
This trip was amazing. Ian was the best tour guide and I seriously could have just taken the trip to sit on the train listening to him explain the history of Salzburg and it's interesting facts! Highly recommended.
Loved this excursion
This day trip was wonderful. It was well organized and the guide was very knowledgeable and funny. The Castle was incredible!
