Munich Winter Bike/Walking Tour

Our famous bike tour of inner-city Munich and the English Garden continues in winter! When the weather is bad, we switch to a walking tour instead.
Duration 3 hours
Private tour available in English
Private tour pricing from 21 EUR per person
Group tour available in English
My girlfriend and I saw the flier for the winter bike tour in our hostel. We were a bit skeptical since it was snowing out and we thought it would be too cold. We did it anyway and it turned out to be the highlight of our stay in Munich! Our guide Steve was a lot of fun and very informative. Instead of just rattling off dates and names, he had lots of interesting stories to tell. The group was very small (because of the season I guess), so it was a very personal tour. He had us laughing the whole time. We were ill-prepared for the cold so Steve gave us some extra gloves and snow pants. With these we were pretty comfortable outside on the bikes. We moved around quickly and the bikes were very easy to ride, even in the snow. We hit all the sights in the town and rode through the gardens at dusk, which were beautiful. We even saw someone surfing in the glacier fed river! We got farther then we would have on a walking tour, had a much more personal conversation with our guide, and weren't badgered for tips at the end. The only way to see Munich. Highly recommended.

Highlights

Learn some local history at Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz

See the Munich Residenz – the largest city palace in Germany

Enjoy the green landscapes of the Hofgarten

Warm up in the English Garden

Bike along the banks of the Isar and (hopefully) spot some river surfers

Description

Our winter tour begins at the Toy Museum, where you’ll be given a short introduction to the city. After getting our bikes, we’ll check out all of the inner-city highlights. The tour lasts around 3 hours and includes a stop in the English Garden so we can all get to know each other better and warm up (it gets pretty cold here in Munich).

If the weather is bad, our guides reserve the right to change the tour to a walking tour of the inner city and the perimeter of the English Garden. In this instance, the tour will end in the world-famous Hofbrauhaus. This tour costs slightly less and the difference will be refunded to you on the day of your tour.
