Why locals love it

This exciting area is the residence for local artists. The last few years the area has bloomed and is now one of the most cozy areas around. The coffeehouse is great and the Álafoss factory store is a treasure.

Why you should visit it

It's a lovely area on the outskirts of the Reykjavík Greater Area with coffeehouses, artist workshops and a lovely shop where you can buy some quality handmade wool products.

Special tip

The old swimming pool in the area has been transformed to a recording studio, owned partially by the Indie rock band Sigur Rós.

what is this area called?

Stav: It's called Álafosskvos in Mosfellsbaer City. It's about 15 km from the Reykjavik city center - and I'd recommend going there by bus or with a car.
