Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur - Eating in Reykjavik - LikeALocal Guide

Why locals love it?

Well.. I lied. It's not really a restaurant, but a hot dog stand. The British newspaper Guardian said them to be the best hot dog stand in Europe! The line can be long, but its still worth it.

Why you should visit it

If you will not visit this yourself, some Icelander will drag you there anyway. Could be the best hot dogs you will ever try.

Special tip

Order like a local and yell proudly "eina með öllu" (e. one with everything) when it's your turn.

If you are on the run and want a quick bite, Bæjarins Beztu (The town's best) is the place. The Icelandic hot dog is really tasteful so stuffing only mustard on it isn't the best choice here. Try asking for "eina með öllu" ("one with everything") and you wont be disappointed!

Do you get vegetarian also here?

Not really a place to go if you are looking for vegan food. I'd suspect they'd give you only the buns and sauce if you will insist. :) If you want to try out Icelandic vegan hot dogs you might find something called "Bulsur" in certain shops (and couple of restaurants in Reykjavik like Hlemmur Square & Bjórgarðurinn). http://www.bulsur.is/english/

Is the dog made of beef or pork?
Sujata traveller March 6, 2017
Not certain, but I believe it's both + mutton. It should be 99% organic ingredients.
