The museum is here to increase and relay knowledge of Icelandic cultural heritage, from the nation´s earliest settlement through to the modern day. Lots of reading material and the interactive is quite well made.
Why you should visit it
It's a good way to learn a bit about the country you are visiting. It gives a good summary of the country and the whole area is quite easy to navigate. Don't let the exterior look fool you, as it is quite nice inside.
Special tip
The "hands on" area will keep the kids occupied for a while.
