The metro of Tbilisi is a subway system of two lines and is one of the fastest modes of travelling in Tbilisi. While the streets are collapsing under the rush hour traffic, the metro is the most reliable way to get fast from A to B.
Most of the stations were built during the Soviet times, yet they seem unfinished unlike the ones of the Moscow metro. Still, there are typical deep stations with endless escalators, occasional mosaic decoration and big crowds of passengers during the rush hour. Metro is a great way to travel through Tbilisi like a local.
The station of Avlabari has a very distinctive smell of sulfur water.
