Romantic railway ruins

Natur-Park Südgelände

Why locals love it

Take a short walk from Südkreuz or Priesterweg S-Bahns and enter a parallel reality, where nature and sculpture have taken over an old railway siding. Crossing the bridge into the park feels like discovering a lost city deep in the forest, with only the rumble of a passing train to break the illusion. The 1e entry is excellent value.

Why you should visit it

It's the perfect place for a romantic stroll, with surprises at the end of every side path. You may find: a graffiti wall, a huge steampunk water tower, a metal owl, an old steam engine, trees growing between the tracks, a birdwatching tower, a peephole revealing someone wonderful in the sculpture garden, a family of goats, and a quaint cafe.

Special tip

Check the schedule for events, as there is a huge exhibition space inside an old train yard, and many open-air events in summer.
