Description

The class starts with an introduction to the history of Pastel de Nata as well as the family-run bakery where this workshop takes place. While we talk, you will also get to try other traditional pastries João's bakery is famous for.

After you've geared up, you'll go inside the kitchen of João's very own "pastelaria". This is where you will learn how to bake the irresistible Portuguese Custard Tarts (aka Pastel de Nata) everybody loves!

Unlike other Pastel de Nata classes in town, we will show you how to make puff pastry like the pros - this part is more of a demonstration. Afterwards, we will make the custard from scratch and bake it all inside a professional oven. Please note that we do not have individual cooking stations, but rather work together as a team. Everyone will get to make at least 3 tarts by hand - spread the dough with a specific Pastel de Nata technique, fill in the custard, etc. The end result will be a collaborative effort. A delicious one, of course! ;)

In the end, we'll eat the warm tarts with coffee, tea or sour cherry liqueur!
