We’ll begin by driving east through the beautiful Þjórsárdalur Valley, stopping at the Hjalparfoss double waterfall and a reconstructed Viking-era house along the way.
After taking a short coffee break at the Hrauneyjar Highland Center, we’ll drive through scenic mountains and lava fields, stopping at the Ljotipollur volcanic crater to enjoy a magical panoramic view. Once we reach Landmannalaugar, we’ll take a moment to relax and enjoy a dip in a natural hot spring next to a lava field.
From Landmannalaugar, we’ll drive through Domadalur where you’ll see the active Hekla volcano. If the weather allows, we’ll take a rugged mountain track along the edge of the volcano, which stands at an impressive 900 metres above sea level. After admiring priceless panoramic views of the surrounding area, we’ll drive back to Reykjavík through fertile farmland.
